Solution - MS Project 2003 Server is a web based project management software to track and execute projects. ePIC is a software package extending the functionality of web based MS Office Project Server 2003. The main package has the capability to track and update the status of the projects. However, ePIC package extends the functionality to create Requests, track estimates, budgets, cash flow, approval of requests to become projects, purchase orders, invoices, change orders, etc that complement the ‘Projects’ in MS Office Project Server 2003. This provides a good business model to carry out major/minor construction projects linked to budgeting and accounting. The original ePIC package was created in classic ASP using JScript language. In anticipation of the upcoming upgrade to MS Office Project Server 2007, we have converted the software from classic ASP to ASP.NET using VB.NET. The project is well integrated to the Share Point web services and email notifications. The challenge here is to take the asp script that runs from-top-to-bottom (serial execution) that has plethora of asp tag hoops and create object oriented event based ASP.NET pages with classes, client side capable .aspx pages and server side code-behind files; which was successfully carried out by our team in record time.
